The Culture Side didn't begin with the idea of opening a market. It began at home.

As husband and wife, and parents to three children, we've always believed the everyday choices we make matter. The meals we prepare, the ingredients we bring into our home, the traditions we pass down, and the time we spend together all shape the way we care for ourselves and for one another.

We're L.A. born and raised—real West Coast babies to the core. Maya was raised by a Chicana mother and African American father, while Jesse was raised by a Chicana mother and Guatemalan immigrant father. Our roots, cultures, and traditions continue to influence the way we cook, gather, and welcome others.

Holistic living has always been a natural part of our home. Maya has a passion for cooking from scratch and creating everyday products for our family, guided by a curiosity about nutrition, herbs, movement, and the ingredients we bring into our lives. Jesse discovered a passion for baking that grew into a commitment to craftsmanship, believing exceptional bread comes from patience, intention, and respect for the process.

Together, we asked ourselves one simple question:

What if we created the kind of market we wanted for our own family?
